Sachin Bansal co-founded Flipkart in 2007 with Binny Bansal — a fellow Chandigarh native — and served as its CEO and later executive chairman. He exited after Walmart’s 2018 deal and now leads Navi Group.

Chandigarh to IIT Delhi

Sachin was born in Chandigarh and studied at St. Anne’s Convent School. He cleared the IIT entrance exam with an all-India rank of 49 on his second attempt and graduated in computer science and engineering from IIT Delhi.

Building Flipkart

After working at Techspan and then Amazon Web Services, he started Flipkart in October 2007 as an online bookstore run from an apartment in Bengaluru, with ₹4 lakh of initial capital. He was CEO until 2016 and executive chairman until 2018.
